Next year, in 1965, he returned with a fully flexible version; just pure fibreglass and resin, with a small band of foam around the forward perimeter. The dead straight rocker became a powerful twangy tail-lift as it was loaded into a turn, allowing top speed on the flats and perfect curves through the turns. He called it “Velo”, after the Italian bike.

The spoon kneeboard is incredibly difficult to surf, with only around 10 kilos of positive buoyancy. But once on the plane, there's nothing like it for performance. There’s never been another surfing concept like it.This particular spoon was ordered by a good surfer in WA who wants to add a chunky left at Margaret’s on a Greenough Spoon to his bucket list! He requested 25 litres of buoyancy, so I preserved as much foam as possible in the forward perimeter. I tested it in a pool, and the float was pretty close! This is certainly the prettiest spoon we’ve ever made thanks to all of the team's art, gloss, and polish skills. Scintillating Spoon!
